My name is María. I was born and raised in Mexico City and since I was a girl, I knew about the magical town of Taxco, located about 3 hours away from the city. There is no way to get there, other than driving or taking the bus.

Once you enter the town, it is as if time slowed down. It feels like walking into a fantasy book, where the setting is plenty of small white houses with red roof tiles, winding cobblestone streets and creations in silver everywhere.

The magnificent Santa Prisca church seems to be there, standing in the "plaza", watching everybody go by; while the tourists can't resist taking as many photos as possible of this picturesque place. Alongside the fantastical atmosphere, it is the kind and incredibly talented silversmiths who bring the city to life.

For the past 15 years, I have had the fortune to live in different countries, which has made me cultivate an even greater appreciation for what I have at home. As a tribute to my country (of which I am deeply proud), I decided to share the beautiful handmade sterling silver jewelry from the magical town of Taxco.

The art of silversmithing in Taxco comes from nearly a century of passing down the know-how from generation to generation. Nowadays, the young jewelry designers keep carrying on the same trade that their parents acquired but with a modern twist, so it is possible to find a wide variety of jewelry styles in the same shop such as classic, vintage, minimalist or contemporary.

My main purpose as Nueve Sterling is to bring a small piece of Taxco to Canada and share it with the rest of the world through my online shop, so people can enjoy the beauty of this amazing sterling silver jewelry close at hand.
