Born and raised in Taxco de Alarcón, Guerrero, Alejandro Fajardo Sánchez is a master silversmith dedicated to preserving and innovating authentic Mexican silver jewelry. From the young age of 10, Alejandro began learning the craft alongside his father, Mr. Sinecio Miguel Fajardo Martínez, gaining hands-on experience with every tool in the traditional Taxco silver workshop.
Throughout his formative years, Alejandro worked in various renowned workshops in Taxco, where he mastered diverse silversmithing techniques and styles. At 20, he took the bold step to open his own workshop, focusing on original designs that blend traditional craftsmanship with innovative textures, fibers, and techniques.
Alejandro’s passion for handmade Taxco silver jewelry has earned him national and international recognition. In 2019, he participated in Visión y Tradición during Design Week Mexico, where his piece Lámpara Filum was exhibited at the prestigious National Museum of Anthropology and History in Mexico City.
That same year, his silver artwork Flor que se Marchita received honorable mention in the lost-wax casting category at the 82nd National Silver Fair. He was also awarded the Francisco Díaz Romero Medal and recognized by UNAM’s Faculty of Art and Design during the Platynos National Jewelry Congress.
In 2020, Alejandro continued to impress the silver community with his piece Fibras, earning another honorable mention in the silversmithing category at the 83rd National Silver Fair.
Alejandro proudly represented the Taxco silversmith guild at the First International Market of Magical Towns in Barcelona, Spain, in 2022, demonstrating traditional silver crafting techniques to a global audience.
In 2023, he earned third place in the jewelry category at the First Guerrero State Handicrafts Contest with his piece Girasoles. That same year, Alejandro was selected for ORIGINAL MEXICO, a prestigious cultural movement showcasing Mexico’s finest artisans renowned for original handmade crafts and unique designs.
