A Real Passion Reflected in My Business

Whenever I explain what I do, people often comment on the passion that shines through my voice. It’s a recurring observation that got me thinking deeply about the roots of this passion. After looking back into my past, I came to a significant realization: my business is not just a venture—it’s a reflection of my own personality.

This connection between my personal journey and my work makes the handmade silver jewelry I offer truly special. It's more than just selling beautiful pieces; it's about sharing a part of myself with each customer.

Deep Love for Handcrafts: A Journey Through Coyoacán

Coyoacan Coyote fountain

My love for handcrafted work began in my childhood. Growing up in Mexico City, I cherished visiting the Coyoacán area with my parents. Coyoacán, meaning "place of coyotes" in Nahuatl, is a distinguished neighborhood renowned for its colonial-style architecture and vibrant, bohemian atmosphere. The central square buzzes with Mexican folklore, where every visitor can’t resist taking a "selfie" with the magnificent coyote fountain in the background.

Coyoacán has always been an important part of my life. Living walking distance to this wonderful neighborhood, I frequented its markets, bazaars and small businesses, immersing myself in its artisanal and bohemian spirit.

Even now, every trip to Mexico City includes a visit to Coyoacán's craft market, where I pick out small gifts to complement the silver jewelry I offer on my website.

Coyoacan Market

This deep-seated connection to handcrafted goods has profoundly shaped my appreciation for artisanal work and influences the quality of jewelry I curate.

As an interesting fact, Frida Kahlo was born, lived most of her life, and passed away in her iconic home in Coyoacán, known as "La Casa Azul" (the Blue House). In 1958, her home was turned into a museum filled with her paintings, personal belongings, and cherished artifacts. Last year, when I visited Mexico City, I passed by La Casa Azul, where they were celebrating 65 years of its transformation into a museum.

Global Adventures and Collecting Treasures

Throughout my life, living in various countries has deepened my appreciation for folk art. In every place we've called home or visited, I've always sought out local crafts markets to find high-quality pieces, not only to adorn my home but also to serve as cherished reminders of my family’s adventures around the world.

Anyone who visits my home immediately notices that it feels like a "museum," filled with diverse art from various cultures and regions.

These artifacts are more than just beautiful ornaments—they each tell a story about who we are. I find profound meaning in every piece, and that's why I care very much about collecting unique items that reflect personal stories and bring joy each time you pause to appreciate them.

A Memorable Keepsake from Las Vegas

Portrait engraved on woodWhen my husband and I decided that the final stop in our nomadic journey would be Canada, where we arrived in 2014, we knew this was where our daughters would settle.
We were determined to become Canadian citizens, a goal we achieved in 2022. But first, to celebrate the approval of our permanent residence in 2018, we took a trip to Las Vegas.

While Las Vegas is known for its flashy souvenirs like Elvis bobbleheads and slot machine magnets, I wanted something more meaningful to commemorate the occasion. I found a small pushcart where they engraved a portrait of my family onto a rustic piece of wood. Although this wasn’t handcrafted in the traditional sense, it still carried the warm, personal touch I value.

Given the circumstances and the setting, finding something so aligned with who I am was a significant achievement.

A Passion for Crafting

Although I wouldn’t call myself "an artist," I've always had a love for crafting. As a child, I enjoyed coloring books and creating various handmade projects. My mom would buy me books with craft ideas, and I could spend hours working on my “masterpieces.”

As I grew older, my interest shifted to country crafts. I even invested in a wood-cutting machine and a sander to design and create my own decorations. This rustic, hands-on approach to crafting was incredibly fulfilling and aligned with my love for the boho style and rustic charm. Unfortunately, I had to stop crafting because I moved away from Mexico to follow my husband and our daughters on our global adventures.

Despite the transition from country crafts to curating Taxco silver jewelry, the rustic and bohemian aesthetic I cherished in my crafting days continues to inspire me. While my country crafts were a personal expression of creativity and warmth, the silver jewelry I offer takes that feeling to a new level of refinement and artistry.

The same essence of artisanal craftsmanship and timeless style that I cherished in my rustic creations is reflected in each piece of Taxco silver jewelry. Both embody a dedication to quality and uniqueness, but the jewelry takes this a step further with superior craftsmanship, sophistication, and enduring value.

This connection between my past passions and my current venture bridges the gap between personal nostalgia and refined artistry, allowing me to offer jewelry that resonates with the same heartfelt essence as my original crafts.

Curating Quality Jewelry

My bond with Taxco began in my childhood, thanks to the special family holidays we enjoyed in this charming town, just a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Mexico City.

As a true Mexican, I deeply understand the cultural significance and intricate artistry of Taxco silver. My respect and admiration for the Mexican silversmiths of Taxco run deep; I applaud their exceptional skill, commitment, and artistry.

Despite Taxco’s global reputation in the silver jewelry industry, I have to say that not all pieces meet the highest standards. That's why I am committed to sourcing from only the best-certified workshops to ensure superior alloy quality to prevent skin irritation, and uphold the perfectionist standards I value.

This commitment enables me to offer jewelry that honors the essence of Mexican silver while maintaining the highest levels of tradition and excellence.
